Supporting Dursley Tab Community Food Hub

Community News - 29 June 2023

Dursley Tab Community Food Hub needs your help! Find out more about supporting this amazing cause.

The Dursley Tab Community Food Hub rescues supermarket surplus food and puts it on the cart outside the Dursley Tabernacle Church for anyone to take. The aims of the Food Hub are to reduce food poverty, reduce food waste and improve the sense of wellbeing, value and cohesion amongst the local community.

However, they also have an indoor food hub, which runs sessions four days a week to enable struggling local families to access long life staple food items, hygiene products, surplus "fresh" food, such as fruit and vegetables, and have a friendly place to stop for a free drink, maybe a biscuit/cake and a chat.

The next step of the project is to raise funds both to purchase essential stock to supplement donations from the public and from supermarkets, and also to fund a food hub co-ordinator, who would be able to oversee the whole project and develop it to offer budget cookery classes, budgeting advice and other ways of upskilling.

The Food Hub is in need of both monetary donations and food donations - if you are able to support them, visit their JustGiving page - every little helps! You can find out what food they currently need on their Facebook page.
