As Freedom Day approaches, we're getting ready to start making gradual changes to our programming.
The safety of our customers is extremely important to us, so we'll be making changes to our programme on a gradual basis, allowing us to assess the impact of any changes at each stage.
Please note that we respectfully request that face coverings continue to be worn by all customers when moving through the centre. We also ask that customers respect people's right to maintain safe social distancing when visiting The Pulse. While we won't refuse entry to non-mask wearers, we would like to ask that where possible, customers continue to protect themselves, friends, family and our staff by continuing to follow COVID-safe guidelines. Thank you for your understanding.
Showers will open again from Monday 19 July. However, we would still recommend that swimmers come ‘beach ready’ for their session to help manage the number of people in the changing rooms at any one time and ensure that we can clean cubicles appropriately between each session.
Water Fitness Classes
Our Wednesday morning and Friday Aqua Stretch classes will change to Aqua Tone and share the pool with the Parent and Toddler Swim sessions. Numbers will slowly increase in water fitness classes.
As we increase numbers in swimming lessons, parents will be able to spectate again – but only in the deep-end spectator area. Staff will lay out chairs for customers to use and all footwear must be removed by customers before going on to poolside. The numbers for swimming lessons will be increased slowly – we will be increasing class sizes by 1 child for Stage 1, 2 and 3 to a maximum of 6; and by 2 children per class for Stage 4a and above to a maximum of 7.
Public and Family Swimming
We will continue to offer bookable swim sessions throughout the summer. Family Swimming sessions will run alongside Stage 1 lessons, and numbers will increase to a maximum of 50 in the pool (from 38). We will still stagger entry times and keep touchpoint cleaning between use.
Where we don’t have swimming lessons running, the maximum numbers of for Public Swimming and Family Swimming may increase to a maximum of 70-80, with staggered entry times to ensure the changing rooms are not too busy.
Lane Swimming will go from 2 to 3 lanes. The maximum number will increase from 20 to 30 swimmers, though we may take a phased approach with this, increasing to 25 and then 30 over a number of weeks.
Swim Fit will return to the programme, with Lane Swimming on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday evening will changing back to Swim Fit with a maximum of 21 swimmers.
Ladies Only Swimming
Ladies Only Swimming will increase to a maximum number of 40 swimmers (from 25).
We will begin to remove our 15 minute gaps in the programme, so there will be some sessions where there are just 5 minutes between activities – for example, swimming lessons.
Booking for Public and Family Swimming will be removed and we will go back to a banded system on entry.
There are currently no immediate changes to the gym and studio classes. This will be assessed as we receive further guidance from the government and exercise governing bodies, and we will communicate any changes to customers through our website, Facebook and Instagram pages in the first instance.
If you have any questions regarding changes to our programme, please email our team on firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to help.
